Tea Bowl/ Chawan #2

Japanese Tea Bowl - Chawan

Rooted in centuries of Japanese tea culture, the Chawan is a traditional Japanese tea bowl used in the ceremonial preparation and drinking of matcha. Our version honours that heritage while reflecting the character and texture of small-batch, wheel-thrown pottery.

Each Chawan is hand-thrown in our South Wales ceramics studio, embracing natural variation and the quiet imperfections that define wabi-sabi - the beauty found in the irregular and organic. With its deep, rounded form and tactile surface, the bowl is designed to sit comfortably in two hands, making it ideal for mindful Matcha tea rituals or matcha preparation.

These handmade ceramic tea bowls are fired to stoneware temperatures and finished in one of our signature studio glazes. No two are ever exactly the same. Each tea bowl is a reflection of time, place, and the hand that made it.
