Moon Jars

Traditionally Moon Jars were made in Korea using porcelain during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910). Customarily the form is made in two half’s due to its size and joined together for storing wine or displaying flowers but they also have a deeper more evocative narrative to its history as potters like my self are drawn to their elegance and apparent simplicity. The form is amplified by making the foot narrower or smaller then the opening to create the illusion of a floating moon
